Original era manufacture. A stiff brimmed M1910 campaign hat made by Stetson. The hat is complete with a period pair of officer pattern cap cords, its original leather sweatband and leather chinstrap. The name Capt. C.E. (Claude Emerson) Jurney 1st Inf, is written in ink on the leather sweatband. The stitching is tight, the brim of the hat is bent upwards a bit from storage, but overall the hat is very sound and presentable, the size is about a 6 3/4.Born in Texas in 1906, he graduated from West Point class of 1930. During WWII, he served with the 25th Infantry Division in the Pacific, including Guadalcanal. He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Legion of Merit, retiring as a Colonel. He died in 1955 and is buried in Kingman, Kansas.Excellent research project.
