Original period manufacture. A classic example of a dealer having way too many in stock and trying to figure out a way to make them go away. Such was Francis Bannerman's & Co's. dilemma back in the day. Their solution was to take a perfectly sound US M1873 socket bayonet, bend it into a tight curl, notch the blade spine and fit it to a black wooden oval so as to hold a candle. Sound condition, showing light age and wear. This sconce was purchased from the family of Corporal R.D.Easler, 3468th Ordnance Company, US Army, WWII.
