Original era manufacture. Ok, this is a big one. All cast iron construction and measures almost 20 inches in length. Dahlgren style tube which is drilled through to the touch hole which allows this to be fired. The paint looks fairly new, however the cannon appears to be fairly old as the surface shows light corrosion pitting. This cannon (along with most others listed here) was part of a large collection of antique cannons purchased recently. The gentleman collected these all of his life and passed away recently at the age of 82. While going through the collection the family shared photos of the collector from the 1960's with this cannon sitting on the fireplace hearth.
