Original period manufacture. Enameled obverse on a gilded brass backing, pinback reverse. In 1940 battery C of this regiment was stationed at Fort Stevens Oregon. On the night of 21 June 1942, the Japanese Fleet Submarine, I-25 bombarded Fort Stevens, firing 17 rounds at the blacked out fort. The battery did not reply as the Japanese were out of range of their antiquated cannon. Only minor damage was sustained, most rounds landing in a baseball field. The only instance during WWII where an Axis Power fired on a US Military installation in the lower 48.
