Original period manufacture. Enameled design on a convex gilded brass badge, pinback reverse. Raised in 1922 at Fort Stottsenberg PI, it was inactivated in 1946, and disbanded in 1951. During the Japanese invasion of the Philippines in 1941, the 26th performed well, deploying as a blocking force against the advancing Japanese, and participating in the last cavalry charge of the United States Army. Some of the survivors of the regiment joined Philippine guerrilla units continuing the fight until the American return in 1945.
