Original era manufacture. US pre WWI era gilded steel Knapsack Matches matchsafe. Sold and dispensed in arcades in the USA around 1900. Made in the form of a Civil War knapsack, the flap of which opens to reveal the matches inside. Ribbed striker area on the bottom. Made by the United Machine and Supply Co, NY manufacture.
