Original era manufacture. A nicely restored example of a straight blade, Infantry officers sword circa 1830-1840. The blade measures 32 inches in length with a blued panel on each side extending midway up the length. The blade runs straight and true, showing evidence of an old cleaning and re-touching of the blue panels and gilded decoration. Ornate brass guard and eagle head pommel, the surface of both having been touched up with fresh gilding. Sound original bone grip showing minor nicks and chips. The black scabbard leather has been entirely replaced, now with a black gloss finish, the gilded brass fittings are securely mounted to the scabbard body, with the drag appearing to have been glued in place.
