Original era manufacture. This wonderful setwas a purchase of ours at this year's SOS, and it represents an oft overlooked era in the development of a modern combat uniform for the US Army. The grouping consists of the following; khaki cotton tunic with a fall collar, bellow pockets and removable rimless eagle buttons throughout. Well matched pair of 14th Infantry & US darkened brass collar insignia. First pattern M1903 rifleman's belt by MILLS with tapered adjusting ends and rimless eagle button snap closures. First pattern, 1904 dated bandage pouch with the removable belt hook. MILLS marked suspenders with darkened brass fittings. 1898 modified haversack, dated 1904 with the button-in cloth insert. 1907 dated round canteen with a 1905 dated canvas hanger. A very well marked period tent half, (perhaps the scarcest piece in the set) with the proper russet leather coat straps and connecting straps, and lastly a 1907 dated aluminum Dipper. Also included for display purposes is a nondescript gray wool blanket wrapped up in the tent half and a pair of WWI era khaki cotton enlisted breeches. The overall condition of the artifacts are near new however there is some light staining and wear to the tunic but nothing distractingand overall the setmatches very well in color with very clear markings visible. For photographic purposes we placed one of my old re-enacting campaign hats on our mannikins bald head, it is not included in the offering.
