Original period manufacture. Awarded by the State of New Jersey to her veterans who served during Civil War. Numbered on the reverse, 2876, Henry F.V. Heed, 15th New Jersey Infantry. He enlisted in August of 1862 and was discharged May 1865. His regiment served with the Army of the Potomac during the war, including Gettysburg. Private Heed was wounded in the right arm during the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House. I found the image of Henry Heed on Ancestry.com, find a grave.
