Original era photography. US Civil War era. 1/9th plate Ambrotype of a young man in a half case. When taken apart you can see a corner on the lower part of the image is missing. As this is a glass plate it could have broken off with age. The matt is of special interest as it says: The Union Now and Forever with a flag on each upper corner with a drum and a cannon on the lower corners.
