Original era manufacture. Dark steel patina finish bayonet with locking ring and US proof on its ricasso. Light, scattered surface corrosion pitting which has been cleaned, not a rusted bar of steel. A penny will pass easily through the socket opening. The original Civil War era leather scabbard is sound, save for the brass tip which is missing, the belt loop is a bit dry but not crumbling away.
