Original era manufacture. Socket bayonet which I believe is for the M1842 musket, .69 caliber. The blade shows an overall dark steel patina with some small scattered areas of cleaned surface corrosion and light pitting, however the surface is primariy smooth. The socket and elbow have a rough texture to them but no deep pitting. The original leather scabbard with brass tip is relatively intact, however the seam has opened and the body has a scaley surface to the leather.
