Original era manufacture. A planchat only example of the West Virginia Civil War medal which was awarded to her sons who served. The original ribbon and suspension bar are long gone.  This example is named on the edge to Saml Burkey, Co. D, 7th Reg. Inf. Vols. Private Burkey enlisted in the 7th West Virginia in November 1861, at Wheeling WV, and mustered out in 1864.Online information via fold.3, shows Private Burkey present for duty during the time of the battle of Chancellorsville May1863, and the battle of Getysburg in July 1863.Comes with an extensive file of information on Burkey and the service record of the 7th West Virginia Infantry.From our own collection. being sold to fund new purchases.
