Original period photography. A wonderful study of the classic Civil War Federal Infantryman. Very clear 1/4 plate Ambrotype image with its original seals intact. His belt and shoulder belt plates have been lightly gilded and he is shown in the position of Attention as he stands before a white canvas backdrop. Upon removing the image from its case we can see an old period inscription which simply states "Taken 1861". An old tag included with the image at the time of our purchase provides additional information,  Samuel Hamson 1/2 brother of Mary J. Perkins. Full case with a taped repair to the hinge.
