Original era manufacture. A very clean example of the iconic Civil War Union Army enlisted Light Artillery jacket. Dark blue wool body with red worsted wool trim on cuffs, body and collar. Full complement of small size Federal enlisted buttons with unmarked reverse, mix of hand and machine sewing throughout. The collar buttons are original sewn, the remainder have been resewn. White muslin sleeve lining which in the right shoulder is size marked with two black dots, and the number 2, and fairly strong, but blurred Cincinnati depot markings. Brown wool body lining is in basically sound condition, with a few minor repairs, and areas of separation. Under the left arm is an area where the original buckram inner lining is visible. There are a few, very small moth bites, some of which have been stitched closed. All in all a bright and clean example of a coat that Francis Bannerman & Co. used to sell way back in the 1950's...price, $2.50.
