Original era manufacture. A very sound example of a buff leather enlisted Cavalry belt with matching sabre straps, and a bridle leather shoulder strap. All leather is pliable, stitching is sound, and no dry rot. Original enlisted belt plate numbered 752, with a matching number on the attaching hook.Written inside the belt in old faded ink is C.K. Amidon. I did a quick look on the Civil War Database, and Charles K. Amidon, came up, who served in the Company F, 4th Massachusetts Cavalry, January 1864-November 1865. His company F served primarily with the Army of the James. He was a member of GAR Post 113 in Boston, and died in 1922. I have owned this belt for many, many years, at least 20 or so, but something else has come by, a truly wonderful something, so old things have to be sold in order to pay for the new. A good solid belt all round, with excellent potential for further research.
