Original era photography. US Civil War CDV of Captain George M. Van Buren. NY 6th Cavalry. Promoted to Major 6/1/1865. POW 7/6/1863 Williamsport, MD. Confined at Macon, GA and Columbia, SC. Paroled 3/1/1865 Northeast Ferry, NC.York Pennsylvania photographers mark on the bottom. At the battle of Gettysburg, the 6th New York Cavalry brought 406 men onto the field; providing skirmishers until Reynolds 1st Corps arrived. They suffered the loss of 1 killed, 3 wounded, and 8 missing
