Original era photography. Clear cdv image of Major General Thomas J Wood. Cited for bravery at the battle of Buena Vista during the Mexican War. Controversy surrounded him during the Battle of Chickamauga when he followed a poorly directed order to remove his division from the line to support a division on his left. The resulting gap allowed Longstreet's men to pour through the void, cutting the Federal Army in half. 1864 Tax Stamp on its reverse.
