Original period manufacture. Colt M1860.44 Caliber Percussion Pistol. Serial number 53989, which can be found on barrel, frame, trigger guard, butt and cylinder. The wedge is not marked. Using the online Colt serial number look-up, we find this pistol to have been produced in 1862. Little to none of the cylinder scene remains, and only the last two serial number digits, 89 remain visible, with a hint of the 38 to the left. The cylinder indexes properly, and locks up nice and tight. Even gray metal patina to the steel surfaces with no pitting or corrosion issues. The screw heads are clean and the loading lever securely locks into position under the barrel. The nipples are all in good shape, none having been replaced with new. Mellow brass patina finish to the trigger guard and backstrap, New York address on the barrel top, dark bore with decent rifling. Original finish wood grips showing wear to the front edges of the butt. A solid old example of a classic Colt pistol dating to the American Civil War. USA SALES ONLY.
