Original period manufacture. White paper envelope, with a hand cancelled, Confederate 10 cent stamp in the upper right corner.The envelope is addressed to His Excellency Joseph E Brown,Gov. ofGeorgia, Milledgeville Ga.A rather bold signature, which has been crossed out, appears on the left side of the envelope, looks to be AnnetteJ.P. Monroe, with a penciled date 1865 next to it. No rips or tears, just normal age and wear. The contents are long gone.
