Original era documents. An interesting lot of three documents pertaining to the story of Michael C. Bryant, who served in Company E, 108th New York during the Civil War.The American Civil War Data Base records him as being 35 years of age when he was discharged in 1865, having enlisted in the 108th NY in 1862. The Data Base also records his wounding during the battles of Antietam, Gettysburg and Laurel Hill. The lot includes his May 28th 1865 discharge, a promotion document to Sergeant in January of 1863, and interestingly an honorable discharge certificate to his son Silas C. Bryant, from the Sons of Veterans USA in 1901.The documents exhibit some tears around the edges, and folds but overall are quite legible. A copy of the information from the American Civil War Data Base is also included. Of the 200 men of the 108th NY at Gettysburg, 102 were casualties, they also were present during the defense against Pickett's Charge.
