Original era manufacture. An 1840 pattern sword known as the "Wristbreaker", produced by the German firm of WKC, and imported for use in the American Civil War. Polished steel blade which measures 36 inches in length, it runs straight and true, with a nice shine to the surface, with clouding and age staining, but no corrosion pitting. Heavy three branch brass guard, with most of the original leather wrapping remaining on the grip, which is bound with a single strand of brass wire. Heavy steel scabbard with two suspension rings, the blade can be drawn easily from the scabbard. The body of the scabbard shows a sizable dent about 12 inches up from the drag, and there are several holes caused by corrosion in the body. These are all located near the drag, the largest being 6x6 mm, the remainder are pinholes.
