Original era manufacture. Based on a French Giberne design, as worn during Napoleon III's Second Empire. Black patent leather shoulder strap with a silver brocade obverse. The strap features a gilded brass lionhead which is attached by a thin wire chain to a gilded brass shield bearing the US eagle. Hardshell patent leather cartridge box with gilded brass trim and eagle decoration. The set is quite sound for its age showing a small tear in the leather strap and some lifting of the brocade stitching. A really striking shoulder belt set.
