Original era manufacture. French inspired cavalry sword with a 35 inch polished steel blade; now displaying an old protective varnished finish to the surface. The blade runs straight and true, with no nicks in the cutting edge. S&K on the reverse ricasso, and on the obverse SOLINGEN. Pleasing patina finish to the brass guard and pommel, leather wrapped grip with intact twisted brass wire binding. The dent-free steel scabbard presents a very dark patina finish with a few spots of scattered surface corrosion. All in all this is a really sound old sword. The varnish on the blade can be removed and with a little effort the blade should clean right up.
