Original era photography. From an old collection here in Arizona, comes this remarkable grouping of 6 Civil War era CDV photographs, all identified as men belonging to the 11th Kansas Cavalry. The identified images include the following, Colonel Thomas Ewing, Commander of the 11th Kansas, Captain H.E.Palmer, commander of Company A, Captain L.F.Green comander of Company B, Captain Henry Pearce comander of Company C, Captain L.D.Joy commander of Company K and lastly, Private Richard Alfriend of Company E. Alfriend is shown seated armed with two holstered revolvers butt forward, with a touch of a smile on his face. The 11th Kansas Cavalry was raised in Kansas City in 1863, formed from the 11th Kansas Infantry which was disbanded. They saw considerable action in Missouri, Arkansas and Kansas, suffering the loss of 173 of their number, including 61 killed in action.
