Original period photography. Excellent, clear image of a seated infantryman wearing the 9 button frock coat with shoulder scales, oval buckle and belt and a private purchase Hardee hat with officers quality bullion embroidered bugle. A penciled inscription inside the case shows the date Dec.4th 1862, with what looks to be an inscription above which has been removed. Excellent detail.
