Original era letter. A well written, very readable letter addressed to Brigadier General White, Louisa Kentucky, April of 1863. The content is a request for clemency for one T.H. McDonald of company B, 1st Squadron, O.V.Cav, sentenced to twenty days hard labor with ball and chain to be attached to his leg. The petitioner states that prior to the sentencing McDonald had been obedient and faithful to his duties. Folded, normal age and wear. Purchased as part of the collection of a 94 year old local WWII veteran, who collected Civil War memorabilia for most of his life.
