Original era manufacture. A very clean example of the US M1840 Cavalry sword, nicknamed the Wrist Breaker due to its size and heft.Polished steel blade measuring 35.5 inches with the Sheble & Fisher name on the ricasso. No nicks in the cutting edge, just some light graying and spottin to the surface, with no corrosion issues.Sound cast three branch guard and pommel cap with a mellow brass patina finish. The leather has been redone at some point in the past, but expertly so as it looks very proper. The heavy steel scabbard has a dark steel patina finish, is nearly dent free, with no corrosion issues.A very presentable Civil War heavy cavalry sword from a very small supplier of edged weapons for the Union.
