Original era manufacture. Standard pattern M1840 US Army NCO sword made by Ames, with a 28 inch polished steel blade.The blade is clean, with scattered staining along its length, no nicks in the cutting edge, just normal age and wear. Typical faint Ames markings on the ricasso, with inspector initials H.D.H., and a partial date, 186.Brass patina finished guard and grip, no scabbard.
