US Civil War M1840 Musician's Sword

Original era manufacture. Standard pattern M1840 Musicians Sword. Old dark patina finish to the steel, with evidence of old surface corrosion. There is a very shallow s-shaped bend in the blade eight inches from the point. The US has been restruck in my opinion, no evidence remains as to the maker. Clean brass guard and grip. Overall it appears as if the guard and blade have had a light coat of varnish applied to it. Possibly an early battlefield recovered sword, as the weapon was purchased out of an old collection near Richmond Virginia.
