Original era manufacture. A very clean example with a pleasing patina to the brass furniture and blue steel scabbard. The blade is unmarked save for IRONPROOF on the spine and displays etched panels on each side decorated with military motifs and a large US. Fishskin wrapped grip with twisted wire binding. The wrapping shows some wear in spots from service use but is not flaking or chipping. The blade is clean with the etching being a bit light, a few very tiny nicks in the cutting edge, more felt than seen. The scabbard shows some denting from service use along its length most on the brass drag. It has a beautiful patina to it with a very nice lustre to the metal surfaces. The guard rattles just a little, original leather bumper is in place at the base of the blade. In our opinion one of the most beautiful swords carried by the US Army in our history.
