Original era manufacture. Standard Federal issue canteen of the Civil War, with a sound blue wool cover, and original cloth carrying strap.One side of the canteen is stenciled in white paint with the company letter "G" and the firs number of the regiment, 5. Original cork stopper and attaching chain. Canteen strap shows wear, and the body is dented, still very sound and displaying typical soldier wear and use.
