Original era manufacture. Standard 1860 pattern cavalry sword, with a 34 inch polished steel blade, produced by C. Roby 1865, with AGM inspector initials on the base of the blade. The blade is clean running straight and true, with light spotting to the blade surface, and few minor nicks in the edge. Original buff leather bumper at the base of the blade. The brass three branch guard and pommel cap displays a mellow brass patina finish, with some light denting or distortion of the guard. The original leather wrapped grip is intact, with scattered scuffing, showing a few spots of flaking of the original surface. Bound with a single strand of twisted brass wire. Dent free, re-blued steel scabbard with two suspension rings, the surface showing dark surface patina and evidence of old cleaned corrosion pitting. Overall this old sword is sound, tight, with no rattling, the blade fits the scabbard properly.
