Original era manufacture. This example is but one sword of a small contract of 10,000 weapons given to David J. Millard of Clayville NY in 1862. The blade measures 34.5 inches in length of polished steel with an age darkened patina. It's straight with a slightly rounded point, few very tiny nail catchers in the cutting edge. Three branch brass guard with its original leather bumper at the base of the blade. Original leather wrapped grip with twisted brass wire binding. The steel scabbard retains both of its carrying rings, is dent free and displays a very dark finish with light pitting from old cleaned corrosion.
