Original era manufacture. Standard 1860 pattern cavalry sword, with a 34 inch polished steel blade, running straight and true. No issues to the blade beyond typical staining and spotting from age, no corrosion damage. U.S. & 1863 proof on the obverse ricasso, the reverse displays the typical lightly struck Ames company logo. Mellow brass patina finish on the guard and pommel. Leather wrapped grip showing scuffing to the leather surfaces, the twisted wire binding is intact. Steel scabbard with a period tinned finish, showing some surface finish loss and light denting towards the throat. The sword draws easily from the scabbard.
