Original era publication. HB, Wright & Potter Boston. These two massive books, volume I published in 1868, volume II published in 1870, list by name every soldier who served in the volunteer forces from the state of Massachusetts during the Civil War.It was really a massive undertaking back in the day to categorize this information by regiment, breaking it down by type and length of service. Volume I, deals with the early enlistments for shorter durations, Volume II the later 3 year regiments. The books are basically quite sound for their age, some scuffing to the leather binding is to be seen, but the pages are sound and are not crumbling. These a big heavy books. All text, no illustrations.
