Original era manufacture. A very clean example with its 28 inch steel blade displaying original polish. The blade runs straight and true, without any nicks in its cutting edge, andscattered spotting and staining to the surface, but no corrosion pitting.Undamaged brass guard and grip with a pleasing vintage patina. Typical faint Ames markings and 1862 date on the ricasso.Original black leather bodied scabbard with brass throat and chape, it has been creased but not broken, with no repairs.
