Item #69484 : Original period manufacture. Official Government Form 2-(b.), filled out and signed by Captain Robert B. Henchan in July 1865, while the regiment was stationed in New Orleans. There are 12 listings to include 3 Enfield rifles, bayonets, scabbards, cartridge boxes, belt plates and more. Raised in 1861, the 57th Indiana saw extensive service in the Western Theater of the war, being mustered out of service in San Antonio in December 1865. Robert Henchan enlisted in 1861, was promoted to Captain in January 1865, and resigned his commission two days after filling out this form. The document is very sound for its age, the writing is very legible, tape repairs are on the plastic protective cover, not the document itself.
