Original era manufacture. Standard Federal pattern lead filled brass oval with the letters US on its obverse. Shows typical age and wear for being a field recovered example, both of its iron attaching loops remain intact, oral history indicates field recovery near Spotsylvania Va..Purchased as part of the collection of a 94 year old local WWII veteran, who collected Civil War memorabilia for most of his life.
