Original period manufacture. Civil War patriotic envelope, mailed from Washington DC during the war, the addressee, Captain J.C. Kintner, 109th USCT, 1st Brig., 2nd Div., 24th A.C., Army of the James.Enlisted on 8/30/1864 at Louisa, KY as a Captain, he was commissioned into "K" Co. 109th USCT, he was Mustered Out on 2/6/1866.I believe he saw previous service as an enlisted soldier prior to being commissioned. The 109th USCT participated in the Petersburg Campaign, and was present at Appomattox Court House on April 9 1865. They spent time in Texas after Lee's surrender.
