Original era photography &documents. This is a nice Civil War grouping to one individual, Joseph A Littlefield, late Company E, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry. The lot consists of a CDV of Private Littlefield holding his 1861 Springfield rifle with fixed bayonet, two discharges, one for his 1861 enlistment, and another for his re-enlistment in the army in 1864. Two family photo album with an assortment of family members, and lastly, an oval metal frame containing a gem size image of Abraham Lincoln and a color image of the eagle "Old Abe", mascot of the 8th Wisconsin infantry. In general the items are in good condition for their age, however the two albums show some damage in the form of covers tearing away from the pages, and one of the closing clasps being replace with twisted wire. The 3rd Wisconsin Infantry saw a considerable amount of service during the Civil War, seeing action at Antietam, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg in the Eastern Theater, and later in the war in the West, Resaca and Dallas Georgia, siege of Atlanta, and Averysboro & Bentonville North Carolina. Looks like our Private Littlefield was there every step of the way. No wounds were listed for him, and he received his final discharge in 1865. There are 91 images in both albums. The man wearing the Chaps is a CDV.
