Original era photography. US Civil War 1/6 plate tintype, lightly tinted, of an armed Union soldier in a half case with mat, glass and preserver. A rather unusual pose with a revolver stuck down through the subjects waistbelt. I believe him to be wearing a New York pattern jacket as you can see epaulettes on his shoulders. A "paper collar young man".
