Original era manufacture. Bright finished socket bayonet with a US proof at the base of the blade. Shallow cleaned corrosion finish to the blade surface, likely from being placed in a leather scabbard for a long time.The metal finish of the socket is basically smooth, with a touch of the same corrosion finish as the blade;the locking ring works as it should.Pliable black leather bodied scabbard with sound stitching and a brass tip. The attached leather is also pliable, showing checking to the leather surface, with the stitching having given away, so the frog will slide down the scabbard.
