Original period steel engraving measuring 6x9" published in 1863 for the book "The History of the Civil War in America" by John. S.C.Abbot. The original facing page is shown for reference only and is not included with the image. There is some light foxing on the edges but is very clean overall.These images are not made of steel, they are printed on paper. The engraved block from which they were printed was steel instead of wood. This allowed for a greater detail, more precise definition. They are from the time indicated, these were removed from an old book at some point. That is why we displayed the title page for reference. The fine print on the Bombardment image reads, Eng'd by Geo.E.Perine N.Y., and at the bottom, engraved expressly for Abbotts Civil War.
