Original era publication and photography. A sixth plate ruby ambrotype image of a seated company grade, Union officer. Partial case with mat.The book, "Sketches of the War; Letters to the North Moore Street School" by Charles C. Nott, 5th Iowa Cavalry, fourth edition, published in 1865.It is in sound condition for its age, and after reading through the first 10 pages or so, appears to be an interesting read; well written with interesting anecdotes of his service time. There were purchased together, supposedly at an estate back in the 1970's.
