Original period manufacture. Official Discharge for Private Augustus W. Morse, Company K, 8th Connecticut Infantry. Issued on December 23rd 1863, near Portsmouth Virginia. He re-enlisted in the 8th as a Veteran Volunteer. Ancestry notes his wounding at Cold Harbor, and again before Petersburg. During his time of service with the 8th, the regiment also saw combat at Antietam and Fredericksburg in 1862.
