Original era manufacture. An an 1863 pattern Federal "Bullseye" canteen which was repurposed after the war for continued service. Tan canvas cover with the number 280 stenciled on one side, and 49 on the other. Remnants of a canvas shoulder strap with a brass adjusting buckle remain. At some point in the canteen's life the pewter spout deserted it's post. All three of the original sling securing loops remain however.
