Original period manufacture. Nice fitted case for the Colt 1971 issue of the Robert E. Lee 1851 commemorative .36 caliber 1851 Navy pistol. The wooden box itself is quite sound, with the interior showing moisture staining. According to the gentlemen from whom we purchased it, the pistol was stored in an old Arizona house, whose only cooling during the hot Arizona summers was the venerable "swamp cooler"; a water evaporation system that frankly dumps tons of moisture into the home in an effort to provide relief from the heat. This moisture caused the pistol cylinder to rust into the velvet, thus the stain marks. Poor pistol.
