Original period manufacture. Theodore Anderson Baldwin, 1839-1925, served in the United States Army for 40 years. Enlisting in the 19th US Infantry as a Private in May 1862, promoted to Lieutenant during the conflict, he remained in the army at war's end. During the postwar years he served as an officer in the 7th & 10th Cavalry, rising to the rank of Lt. Colonel in 1896. During the Spanish American War he was promoted to Brigadier General of Volunteers, and postwar he was given command of the 7th Cavalry, retiring in 1903 as a Brigadier General.
