Original era manufacture. These items were brought home from WWII by PFC R.D. Reynolds, who served with the 11th Armored Division in Europe.The 11th Armored Division (Thunderbolt) landed in France in December 1944, and was rushed east to contend with the German offensive in Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge. In early 1945 they crossed the Rhine at Oppenheim, continued through southern Germany, and ended the war on the outskirts of Linz Austria where the tanks of the 11th AD met up with the advancing Red Army.During the European operations, the 11th Armored suffered the loss of 2, 877 casualties, killed, wounded and missing.   This interesting grouping is the last of the material which we will list here as forming part of PFC Reynolds war souvenirs. It is interesting as he used a photo album begun by a German soldier early in WWII, adding his own wartime photos to the back part of the album.Combined, the albums contain over 300 original bw photos of both German and American origin. The first part of the main album contains images taken during the German invasion of France in 1940, with scenes of destruction and death. The remainder are images of PFC Reynolds time in Europe, most appearing to have been done after the German surrender in May of 1945. The covers are missing from both albums, the images are fine.
